Mairin I - An Inboard Powered Center Console Power Boat
Mairin I was an evolution from a lapstrake design had a similar hull form, but included a small cuddy cabin and windshield. It became one of a series of five or six designs intended for larger inland waters as a camp/cottage utility boat capable of carrying people, pets and groceries to and from a water access only property.
The hull form is influenced by “down east” bass boats, very traditional in many respects. It was intended to be built as wood composite; that is strip built with biax fiberglass inside and out, and internal framing tabbed/glassed in place. When powered by the 250 hp inboard diesel, the marketing types would suggest a top speed over 30 knots, though I think its more likely to top out in the high 20s, and have a comfortable cruising speed at just under 25 knots.
