Mairin VI is actually the fifth in the Mairin series of center console boats. It is a departure from the other designs in several ways. unlike the inboard versions, this boat features a deep V hull form with a deadrise of 22 degrees at the transom.  Aesthetically, the design draws on influences from larger sportfishing boats, though it has more modest flare forward, than the Carolina Sportfish Boats.

The original use case specified a boat under 30′ in length, that would be used for transportation to and from a water access cottage on Georgian Bay.  As drawn it features a pair of 150 hp outboard motors mounted on an external bracket to maximize space in the cockpit and provide a swim platform as well. The twin engines should provide a top speed over 30 knots, with a cruising speed in the mid/high twenties. If one were willing to forego the redundancy factor afforded by twin engines, a single outboard of 350 – 400 hp would provide a higher top speed, with less weight than the twins.

As drawn, a pair of 60 Gallon fuel tanks are mounted where they will have a minimal impact on trim regardless of whether they are full, or closer to empty. there is space to accommodate larger tanks if necessary. The plans also make accomodation for the installation of a Seakeeper (S1 unit) for added stability and comfort.

Like her sisters, the intent is for the boat to be strip built with epoxy/glass sheathing inside and out.
